Hello and Welcome!

I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a blog for a long time, and finally decided to make the effort and give it a go as it’ll be a nice keep sake for both myself, and my friends and family who want to follow mine and my boyfriend’s adventure to Canada ! :D

Myself and my boyfriend have been together 5 years this year (how it’s flown!) and in that time, through having to work to pay for general adult responsibilities whereby we had our own place through renting, and then moving back in with my mum after we couldn’t afford the house together and helping with her mortgage, we realised that we hadn’t experienced anything exciting as a couple together and just been plodding on with our lives, not really doing much except the odd trip to London here and there and visiting friends.

So we decided – SOMETHING MUST BE DONE.

So the “Canada Plan” was born :)

We have been wanting to do this for a good couple of years now, especially when one of my ex work colleagues went to Canada on a working visa back in July of 2011 and he has done nothing but rave about how awesome it is there and how he would never want to come back to live in England now – A bold statement! But saying that, we are / were both in Swindon and Swindon is a craphole.

So following from his enthusiasm, it’s spurred us to seriously think about applying for a working holiday visa, which has got us where we are today :) We have both filled in our IEC Canadian Work Visa bits through Kompass and CIC ( very luckily as the IEC allowance of people were taken up so fast this year thanks to the IEC splitting it into 3 sections of applicants, also the Irish IEC applications went in a day and that was around 5000 odd people! crazy) and we are now just playing the waiting game of getting our LOI’s (letter of introductions) which is a “fancier” name for the visa really :p

Once we have those babies, we can start sorting out everything from saving shit loads, selling things we can make some money from and sorting out flights, insurance, somewhere to live and lots of other important things we havent had to even think about until recently when we realised it is more than likely going to happen now!

We’re hoping to go around July / August time, so we shall see what happens… and when it happens I will be updating this :D

Watch this space I suppose… fingers crossed that the next time I write I will have received my LOI :) Woohoo!
